Vladimir Putin has established the Order of Gagarin, it will be awarded for merits in the field of space, the corresponding decree is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
"In order to further improve the state award system of the Russian Federation, I decide to establish the Order of Gagarin," the document says.

It is noted that this award will be presented to Russians for the successful completion of a space flight, a manned space flight program for the exploration, development and use of outer space, as well as for special achievements in their organization and conduct. In addition, the order can be awarded "for outstanding achievements in the implementation of state policy in the field of space activities, including in the interests of defense and security of Russia." We are also talking about those who distinguished themselves in the development of rocket and space technology.

In addition, the Gagarin Order can be awarded to foreigners for effective participation in cooperation with Russia in the field of space. Also, this award can be received by collectives of organizations, regardless of the form of ownership, for high achievements in the development of domestic cosmonautics.
