Experts from NASA have found caves on the Moon with a temperature comfortable for human life — about 17 degrees Celsius. This is reported on the official website of the organization.

For the first time, pits on the surface of the satellite were noticed in 2009. In a new study, scientists decided to study where they lead, since caves can be used as a shelter from solar radiation, meteorites and cosmic rays. Two of the discovered depressions had visible protrusions leading to caves and voids.

The researchers used a Diviner thermal imaging camera to analyze the temperature. In a depression about 100 meters deep in the area of the Sea of Tranquility, using computer modeling, it turned out to analyze the thermal properties of the rock. It turned out that in permanently shaded areas, the temperature shows slight fluctuations during the lunar day, keeping the indicators about 17 degrees Celsius.

Earlier, the Russian organization Agat estimated the cost of a flight to the Moon on the Orion spacecraft and the unrealized domestic Eagle. According to calculations, the flight will cost four times cheaper on the Russian device.
